  1. High school graduates should take a year off before entering college. This will give young adults a better chance of researching careers and job fields that they may be interested. High School graduates will also have a chance to relax and organize before they get started with college. After all, students wouldn’t be wasting money starting off college undecided and there would be a fewer amount of people changing their college major in their sophomore year of college. Students would get to put together their real life decisions if it was required to take a year off before entering college. People are in a rush to go to school, which is effecting the choices that they make, which ends up affecting them negatively in the long run.
Firstly, it is not a waste of time to take a year off of school, before entering college. There is a great amount of students choosing one major and changing it the year after, because they were in such a rush to start college. In the end, they waste a full year studying for a major that they decide to change later on. There for, it just results in a waste of money. They still will be going to school for another year because of the decision change they make. According to the About USM Team, “Simply put, if you have no purpose, no passion you’ll have no drive, no reason to get you into the books at night and up and out of the bed in the morning.” Secondly, taking time off college allows you to discover yourself and the world around you. There is no school pressure, there for you can work to save up money and do the things you enjoy to do. Many people discover their majors and career goals doing things that they enjoy to do. People with no school breaks cannot really commit to something that they enjoy and actually live through experience with such things. In this time it would be a great idea to travel, to see the schools you may plan on attending, to visit local or international career services, and to get an idea of how the world works in the career field. It may also be a great idea to explore and research your dream careers relationship with the economy. Another reason to take a year off before entering college is that students may think that they are ready for the career they have chosen, but certainly may not be ready one little bit. It’s easy to choose a career but you may never know that it involves more math than science, which you may be bad at. In high school, there really is no career discussion classes or assemblies, there for, young adults are required to do their own research in a limited time if they are deciding to enter college right after college, and they are required to do this in their last year of high school if they are deciding on a career. Many students enter college with a career that they end up changing later on. If they are taking out a student loan, this will affect them tremendously, because they are paying for a year of college that they didn’t intentionally want, and once they graduate they are now in debt for something that did not help them.
In conclusion, high school graduates should be required to wait a year before entering college. It is a better idea to know where you are going with your future, rather than having to go to a job that you end up hating for the rest of your life because you didn’t explore before deciding. It’s also a better option for the many students entering college undecided and wasting money for up to 2 years. It should be mandatory that high school graduates wait for one year before entering college.

  2. People who are caught driving drunk should lose their licenses for a year. It is something that should be highly considered due to the fact that many people around the United states are killed everyday due to drunk drivers or being behind the wheels while intoxicated.

People who have been arrested are or slapped on the wrist and thrown over night in jail, and let go with a warning. Many people do are not aware of how dangerous drunk driving can harm not yourself but millions of other peoples lives. A warning or one night in jail will not automatically change the mistake made overnight. Losing their license for a year will not only teach them a lesson but also will second guess their actions and realize drunk driving will put your life at risk. Ryan Dunn who was part of the show Jackass with Johnny Knoxville and Bam Margera is an example, Dunn tweeted he was drinking at a West Chester bar. He then drove his Porsche 911 GT3 and veered off the road and crashed into a tree killing him instantly. Dunn had a blood alcohol level of 0.196% which was more than twice the state's legal limit of 0.08%. though if he survived jail time would have been his conviction with maybe probation. So should they lose their license? i believe so, and Ryan Dunn's experience is something to be taken to consideration a good person who didn't deserve to die.

In conclusion the best possible way for a lesson to be learned is taking their license away, it will not only reduce car accidents but hopefully open every individuals minds, although if they proceed to drink and drive after their first offense from removing their license, then prison should be evaluated for an estimated term. Its always better to save lives and risk the ones who dont deserve to die.

  3. 2. American family’s should have a two child maximum rule to limit population growth
A society cannot grow in population at a time when its resources are no longer growing. The United States is the greatest country in the world for many reasons, but from a foreign perspective the main reason were so great is because we used to have enough space to let in anyone unhappy with their current location. Unfortunately the United States needs to start realizing were maxed out right now. Luckily the government has begun capping the acquired citizenship rate in the country so there is only one other offender in over population, us. People in this country are reproducing at irresponsible rates and even worse its being glorified in the media, through shows like Octomom. Luckily for that one, divorced media hungry woman she will have enough money to send all 8 of her children to college, and probably leave them a good inheritance. Given that according to the current US Census Bureau the median household income has dropped as low as it was in 1996, I don’t think that the average American divorce’ would be able to afford that. In lite of giving the American public the benefit of the doubt I’m going to assume not everyone’s jumping on the eleven child reality star bandwagon. I believe that the problem with American reproduction rates is incentive.
There are four million Three hundred Thousand people living in the United States off on Welfare. Despite having some form of illness or disability, housing migrant or seasonal workers, and the variation of your required living expenses, there is only one other way to get more Welfare. The addition of family members into the home, and it’s a big increase so much it becomes incentive. People on welfare love to have children, because we pay them more to do so. Living in New York if I had two children and a husband right now and signed up for welfare, the amount I receive would be the equivalent to me holding a forty hour a week job making thirteen dollars an hour. With every new child I have, the government will pay me more. I don’t understand why people can’t see that were babying our citizens, people have no reason to work hard if we pay them to do nothing.
Although the idea would most certainly be very unpopular, I propose the Government create an extra tax to add to families who produce more than two children. Taxes are exactly what our country needs, although nobody wants to admit it. Our economy is in a recession and taxes are pure revenue into the economy. Personally if I were in charge instead of sending people to jail for petty crimes all the time costing us money I would be charging those people in money or free labor. I’m not condoning workhouses or anything that extreme I just feel like money is a lot more important to people than their time nowadays.

  4. High school students should take a year off before entering college. Education up until you are a graduating senior is required by state and federal law. This is how some of those graduating seniors see education, as a requirement. Some believe they do not need any further education and they will just conform to society’s undemanding blue collar work force. Then again there will be others whowill want to attend school and will spend tens of thousands of either their parents hard earned money, government aids, loans and grants in hopes of someday pleasing their parents’ wishes but at the same time ruining their parents credit, their own newly established credit as well as their credit with the federal aid agencies. The only reason 85% of kids go to college right out of high school is not mainly for an education but to party and hang out with friends when ever where ever they want. Put one of those kids in the work force for a year doing something they never wanted or imagined doing and see how fast they go get an education.
At age 18, before you have had any experience in the “real world”, you can be told by everyone in your life how life is and how it is going to be for you but you until you actually have these life experiences to actually learn from you won’t learn anything. In some instances experience can teach you things that education cannot but if you are conscious enough and you combine the two, you will be on your way to fulfilling whatever it is you pursue in life. There are things, such as this last example of experiences, which people don’t see at age 18 but may see at age 22. As well as knowing that life is what you make it. If you do little to nothing to succeed in life then you will be sure to do just that, nothing. In contrast, if you work hard, do what is “hard” to do and go after whatever it is you want in life, you will always be sure to be successful. This is one of the few things you do not need an education to realize but you do need the experience.
Education is something nobody can ever take away from you but if you go into it on an immature and irresponsible level, such of that of most graduating seniors, you can risk your chances of ever attending school with assistance in the future. In college, if you are awarded monies through loans or aid you are responsible for keeping a certain grade point average as well as not withdrawing from a certain small percentage of classes in order to still be eligible. Although many schools inform you of this many will not, especially if you are on aid and not paying out of pocket. In turn, when you go to return back to school after a few years off and a couple added years of life experiences and maturity, you will no longer be eligible for aid and you will then have to pay out of pocket. This can be quite deterring on a returning adult that is no longer happy in their current field of work or may no longer have a field of work and are trying to further their education. Having high school students take off a year before staring college may push their professional careers back a year but it will save them not only time in the long run, but money, financial and government aids, their parents money as well as their sanity, and they will be that much more mature then they were the year before they started experiencing real life.

  5. People who are caught driving drunk should have their licenses revoked for a year. As young adolescents we observe adults and we wish to take on a car for our own use. Once we get to that legal age of maneuvering a vehicle, we either listen to our guardians by staying sober or ignore them completely. The choice is ours. As for those who do not listen consequences follow.
Over the years the number of drunk drivers in general has increased dramatically. The numbers for those drunk drivers caught from the year 2010 are 16,290. Only 10,262 were sentenced for imprisonment and around 50 %( 8,354) of the offenders got their licenses suspended. Throughout the United States the number is at its all-time high.
These offenders caught driving drunk should get their licenses revoked for a year why? All offenders will be penalized. Offenders of this crime do not comprehend the dangers they are causing themselves and others. First off, they harm themselves with the consumption of alcohol thus, damaging their insides. It affects others such as friends and family members. Friends and family become affected because they either see their loved one arrested, attend those A&A programs, having to drive their loved one everywhere because of licenses being revoked. Everyone gets affected, or even worse family has to attend their loved one’s funeral.
Offenders should take into consideration that driving is a privilege to mess up by driving drunk because, they can harm themselves or hurt another innocent life.

  6. People who are caught driving drunk or under the influence should have their licenses revoked for a year. Drinking and driving is a choice and more times than not, a fatal one. There are laws and statistics for drunk driving that one can either follow by making the responsible decision or put everything on the line but choosing not to.
When a person chooses to drive drunk it is not only their lives they are putting at risk. By getting behind the wheel after a few drinks or a lot of drinks you are putting the lives of anyone who crosses your path in danger. According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, every 2 hours three people are killed in alcohol related highway crashes. They also tell us that in 2010 an estimated 112 million adults admitted to getting behind the wheel intoxicated at least once. [http://www.bts.gov/publications/by_the_numbers/drunk_driving/]
After having a few drinks and making the decision to get behind the wheel of a vehicle puts lives in danger for as long as their operating a vehicle. Offenders convicted of driving intoxicated obtain criminal records for getting charged with DWI’s which can affect one’s family, job opportunities and life. Nothing good can come from drunk driving and it’s a risk that just does not seem worth it, and I believe if you are caught you should lose your license for at least a year just for taking that risk.

  7. Many people are voting particularly for Obama this election day because of his plan for a universal healthcare system. However, this plan would ruin healthcare as we know it. In fact, most doctors disapprove of President Obama's plan for universal healthcare.
Currently, states manage their own food stamps, medicare, and medicaid programs. They handle most of the laws regarding insurance reimbursements and the healthcare costs are competitive. By enacting a universal healthcare system, the federal government controls how much insurance reimbursements will be for certain medications, and in the end doctors get hurt financially.
If this universal healthcare system is enacted, pharmaceutical companies will then be able to continuously increase medication costs and the extra costs will be levied on the common taxpayer.
Also, taxpayers will be hit financially because money is needed to fund this universal system, and everyone's federal taxes will increase dramatically. The common taxpayer will also be paying for the healthcare of the 44% of the people that do not pay federal income taxes because their income is to low.
Obama wants to enact a universal healthcare system for America but it is very controversial. Having a universal healthcare system is a very bad idea and we must not allow it to be passed. There are many negative side effects of passing that legislation into law and everyone will be affected.

  8. People who are caought drining drunk should lose their lisense for a year. Everyday young teens and adults are arrested driving while intoxicated. Not only are most under age, but they are putting the lives of others in danger. Also it is illegal to drink and drive. People may ask 'Why is alcohol legal if it causes so many problems and deaths withen our country?' A main reason for this is because the tax revenue. Colleting taxes off of the sale of alcohol is an big amount compared to other items.
Drinking impairs your ability to act quickly and usually, rationally. Driving under the influence can also affect judgement and reasoning, as in distance and movement. There are things people miss on the road because they are not paying full attention, or just not really concerned with the road. Your perception abilities are affected, your less likely to observe traffic signs, bikers, and pedestrians or carscoming from the oppisite side. "Alcohol influences your driving even if it's ingested in small quantities. Unlike food, alcohol doesn't digest but gets absorbed in the bloodstream from the stomach and colon," (www.alcoholalert.com). Alcohol is a depressant, which cuases drowsiness, leading to higher risk for accidents. A problem faced if getting stopped by a cop is risk or going to jail, also if the insurence company finds out they will raise your insurence prices.
People think having one or two won't really affect them in any way while driving. Not only are they completely worng, but it's extreamly dangerous. Being caught driving while intoxicated is a serious matter, and is taken very strict, thats why people lose their lisence for a year. Even having a drink can cause many people to lose their lives and cause many family's stress and pain, even a family member loss. Remember, drinking is a privlige, it's not mandatory.

  10. People who are caught driving drunk should lose their licenses for a year.

Over the years the number of drivers under the influence of alcohol has increased intensely. Allowing the car accident and the mortality rate to increase. Therefore people who are driving under the influence should have their license dispossessed from them for a year.
Once a person gets behind the wheel while they are under the influence of alcohol they are putting others life at jeopardy including their own. In the United States the National Highway traffic Administration estimates that 17,941 people died in 2006 in alcohol related collisions. Driving under the Influence represents forty percent of traffic deaths in the United States. Those who are drunk and decide to still drive should be penalized. They know what they are doing is illegal and still drive.
DWI is a serious problem in the United States that has increased mortality rate rapidly. The offenders should be taken out the streets by having their license deprived from them for a year. They should not allow the offenders to have a restricted license where they can drive to and from work or school. They shouldn't be able to drive at all for a year. They need to deal with the consequences.

  11. When you want to operate a motor vehicle you need a license, when you want to marry the person you love you need a license, so why when you bring life into this world and take on the most important job an adult can have do you not need a license. To become a parent it should be required that you need a license. Many people believe parenting is a right when it is truly a privilege. Not everyone is made out to be a parent and tests should administered to find out who truly can be a parent.
Parenting is one of the most important jobs a person could have. Parenting requires the ability to multitask. When a women finds out she is pregnant it should be required for the man and women to then enroll in parenting classes. The necessities you should need for parenting are CPR/basic first aid classes, time management classes, finding a job if you don't have one already, and basic baby care. These classes need to be mandatory because as a parent you may be called upon to use these skills all at once, but you most definitely will use them individually daily.
When it comes to todays society you need a license to everything but parent a child you've given birth to. You can't even adopt a dog without having a license or adopt a child without going through back ground checks. So why does a basic bodily function give you the right to be a parent to a child when it is certainly a privilege that should be earned.

  12. People should be required to get a license to become parents. If this were to become an actual law don't you think the world would be a better place? Innocent children wouldn't be brought into families where they are not wanted nor treated well. Children would be under the good care of parents who will love them and will actually be prepared and know what to do.
If people were required to get a license to become parents, we wouldn't have teenage pregnancies as a national epidemic, because obviously a teenager isn't in the right mindset to have a baby. Because of that, more teens would graduate from high school and go onto college. Children born to parents who are not ready to have them are also likely to grow up in poverty and live unhappy. Parents would be prepared for the costs of having a baby and have everything ready to go. For example, have a safe home to raise the child in, have a family car and have a good stable job. A couple that didn't even have those things prepared aren't in the right mindset to allow a child into this world and would be putting that child in danger. From child neglect to complete abandonment. The bottom line is an innocent child should not be brought into this world having parents who are not even prepared to have them.
Obtaining a license in order to become a parent would make the world a better place all around. More kids would go onto college and we wouldn't see the high school dropout rate or teenage pregnancy rate so high as it is seen today. Would you want to see an innocent child grow up in a home where the timing is all wrong? I think not.

  13. High school graduates should take a year off before entering college. Taking a year off after high school gives students a chance to take a break from school before starting academic education and real life. Not every student is ready to go to college right after high school. For students who are not sure of what they want to do in future, they can take a year off and discover new ideas and see the options that they have. This will help them decide what major they want to study in college. Students who start college right after high school may find themselves in a situation where they do not know what to do with their lives. They may end up changing their majors after a year, because they are in a rush to start college. However in the end they waste time and money. Therefore taking a break after high school will prevent them from making wrong decisions and help them become more mature for college life. Also taking a year off may help students who have financial problems. In this time period they can work and save up money for first year of college.

  14. The production and sale of cigarettes should be made illegal. It is associated with many adverse health effects. This filthy habit costs our country millions of dollars every year in treatment of disease associated with cigarette smoking. The addictive nature of the nicotine in cigarettes insures that consumers will continue purchasing this deadly product despite the exorbitant costs, financial and corporal.

On the most basic level is the ethical question regarding cigarettes. To be ethical is to have you thoughts and actions guided by the greater good. In contrast, tobacco companies are manufacturing a product that is known to be harmful to their customers and even to people unfortunate enough to be around them. Most people know of the dangers of cigarette smoking. What is not commonly discussed, however, is the cost to the society at large.

As as we move toward nationalization of healthcare, unhealthy behavior will have to be curtailed. Individual choices will impact the greater society. Given a national healthcare system, if the production and sale of tobacco products is allowed to continue in the realm of legal and accepted behavior non-smokers will effectivly be paynig to treat diseases brought on by the error of others. This would not only be unfair, but fiscally extremely wasteful.

Addictive products have an advantage over ordinary products (non-addictive)simply due to the fact that the consumer cannot, without extraordinary effort, choose to extinguish their consumtion. This leaves victims of cigarette appeal and advertising in the position of being subjugated to the whim of Big Tobacco. And as long as some product is making money, no company is going to cease production. It is the American way!

Cigarette companies are obligated to the community. Unfortunatly, given corporate attidtudes, they will never fulfill this obligation. Responsibility falls on the individual. In a capitalist democracy the real ballot you cast is the one in your wallet.
